Teenage Pregnancy Proposal – Iain Mackie Teenage pregnancy statistics are higher in Ingol and Tanterton. Iain Mackie and Helen Dixon have been working on a Teenage Sexual Health project which will involve having regular sexual health drop-in sessions at Intact and outreach at two local schools: Fulwood and Ashton.
Iain and Helen will be trained to become Tier One Sexual Health trainers, and as such they will be able to advisee young people on sex issues, distribute condoms, do Chlamydia screening and know where to direct them if they have any serious problems
.
The outreach work will involve young people devising and performing short dramas about sexual health issues and these will be put onto DVD so others can learn from them as well. Project Updates The Tanterton Play Area
Plans for the new Play Area were passed around and Annette Stevens explained how the project had come about. At the moment we have £45,000 from the 106 Funding, and a further £10,000 from the Big Lottery. Matt Kelly from Preston City Council is currently looking into sourcing more funding, hopefully bringing the total for the project to £80,000.
The group discussed how we might consult with residents on the plans for this new area and a suggestion was put forward that we organise a Fun-Day at Tanterton Community Centre in which several current projects would be promoted alongside activities for kids, this would be a good way to get people in to see the plans without calling it a public consultation.
The next stage will be planned by a subgroup consisting of Annette Stevens, Ruth Patterson and Bob Casey.

4.

Signposts/Christian Centre - Youth Cafe

An offer letter will shortly be sent out asking for further clarification of funding allocation. That aside, the project is to go ahead soon.

Outreach work is already taking place.
The Group will be updated at the next meeting.
