The Girls Club has just celebrated their third anniversary and in that time the club has gone from strength to strength, Kay now wants to make it even better. Kay would especially like to thank Norma, who first came up with the idea but unfortunately due to ill health cannot help regularly any more and we hope she will be better soon. Special thanks again to Marie who has also helped most of the time and is now concentrating on her exams. Sheila has now stepped in to help whenever she can and Emma, a youngster, has proved popular with the girls and is willing to help regularly. Thanks to both of them, but if any mothers or anyone wants to help then please get in touch with Kay. The club started in the community house last year, the word soon spread about and from four girls initially the Girls Club now gets up to 32 girls every week. When we lost the community house, the girls club got a saviour in the name of Ann Aspen who gave Kay use of the sunshine room at the school where she is Headmistress, thanks Ann and good luck at your new appointment you will be greatly missed by all. The Girls Club is popular because for two hours the girls can play games to win prizes, draw, dance, sing (X Factor watch out) and many other activities that the girls themselves think of. They all get a drink, crisps and sweets, with a cake and present on their birthdays. All of this for just one pound. The parents love it as well as they have two hours of free time. |
