Drugs users are they a victim or just another menace to our society.

We can only speak of the experiences we have had during the past 2 years dealing with the drug scene on the estate. I would imagine that in their early stages of taking drugs that we can say that they are definitely a victim. They would have been enticed onto drugs by those vermin who deal in this deadly pass time, these so called dealers do not care about how much suffering they create all they want is a healthy profit.

I have know a £400 a week victim begging and pleading for £10 for a fix, tears of desperation, and just skin and bone, a truly horrendous sight. If they cannot beg sufficient money then its got to be stealing, anything will do. It does not matter from who they steal old and young alike are all fair game.

When you have 28 known addresses that take drugs and none working that takes an awful lot of stealing, begging and prostitution to ensure their habit is fed.

At what stage does this victim become an antisocial misfit, as residents who have the human right to live in peace you cannot tolerate this type of person day in day out.

Not all drug takers are anti social, there are a few who on this estate are in the minority who go to the chemist to receive their intake of methadone and struggle on not harming or upsetting anyone.

Then there are the others who have had all the help the state can give them, they have gone over the white line and their is little or nothing anyone can do to help. They turn away from help, perhaps that the drugs speaking after years of addiction if has to effect their judgement. All the same these people create so many problems for all residents who happens to live within the vicinity of a drug area.

At some stage their has to be some one who has to say enough is enough, that is the stage that many residents got to, when we formed the ICA we put a questionnaire out and drugs was the no 1 target.

Bearing in mind that all these people had had all the help that the system could give them, they then had this estate in a state of turmoil, we had to do something,

It may seem harsh to many but we felt that if we could pressurise the drug fraternity to moderate their intake we would benefit but also the drug users would gain in the long run, by slowly being pressurised in reducing their intake.

For our part this is how we helped the police and City Council in attempting to resolve this problem.

Read the following and decide who is the victim

This lady is a quiet and peaceful resident

The housing office worker told me that the tenant of 2a (the cause of my sleepless night for the past 6 months and part cause of the devaluation of my property), P.(name with held) had been sent a card to call in at the housing office, and said they would send him another one as they hadn't seen him. He said .we have had trouble with him before'.

Why! the hell did they move him next door to me who is very quiet and over Carol and Dave who also are. After the trouble we had with the last Dickhead and his 'druggie' friends they do the same thing again. - sack 'em.

I feel as if I am going to crack up if I stay here any longer. I have been woken up or kept awake for most of the time during the past 6 months, I am knackered. The housing office have had approximately 5 letters from me , none have been acknowledged.

Do I have to hit him over the head with my DAD'S axe to get rid of him? (off the record of course)

If my dog wasn't here I'd stick it through my own skull, the way I feel just now. There is no way I can wait until this area is cleaned up to sell my house, I NEED TO GET OUT NOW

Name with held.

A true story of a drug victim......

........
...before drugs ..... ......after drug abuse

Hello. I wanted to thank you for asking permission to use my photo as so many don't. This drug is evil. There is no other way to describe it. Not only the outer disfiguration is extreme; the effects it has on your insides are worse. Young (old) people need to know that maybe for a minute you'll be skinny and full of energy, but the long term effects are _______. I have no word to describe, but here is my story for young people to consider. It takes everything I have to walk a flight of stairs. My lungs are destroyed. I have no control over my bladder - I pee my pants all the time. I can't take a bowel movement without a laxative. My long term and short term memories are near to none. And all this is just the beginning - I've only been clean 1 year and ½; so my body and brain are still not complete. Studies show that meth may cause cancer also. I want no pity, I just want these young people and old to know that this stuff does to your insides as well as the outward appearance. You can use my name and what I've written. People need to know and if you want or need anything from me - please don't hesitate.

Sincerely, Penny S. Wood.
